Can I help you, with your case?

The odds are just about forty nine to one against it......

That's because I'm a Michigan lawyer, and I only have knowledge of Michigan law. I appreciate that someone would write to me and say "I know the laws are probably different from state to state, but I'm in Alabama, and my "X (insert variable, just like algebra class)" won't comply with "Y" and I can't get "Z".......what do you think?"

I think you need to talk to a family law attorney, in your town, that's what I think. And I'm really quite surprised that you haven't talked to one before now. Indeed, I, and other family law attorneys, occasionally get situations presented, that makes you just want to  shout "Why the heck didn't you consult with a lawyer before you did THAT?".... But, whether I like it or not, the person did what they did, and, really, it's too late now. I suppose that person, and the lawyer, can try to make the best of it, but it's hard to put the toothpaste back into the tube, isn't it? Sometimes, truly impossible. So it goes.

So, with regard to your problem, I can't help you, if you live in (or if your case is in) Washington, or Ohio, or any of the other forty nine states that are not Michigan. If you have a Michigan case, if you have a Michigan question, I'd be happy to try and answer your question. If you live somewhere else, and if you don't have a lawyer that you're happy with,  my suggestion is that you follow the technique outlined in one of the earlier chapters, and call three family law attorneys in your town...you'll know which one to hire, after talking to three of them.
